Eligibility Criteria for CTET September 2026

Primary Level (Class I to V)

  • Must have completed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and must have passed or be appearing for a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • Or, those with 45% marks in Senior Secondary (or equivalent) and who have completed or are appearing for a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, as per NCTE regulations.
  • Or, completed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and currently pursuing a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Or, completed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and currently pursuing a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Junior Level (Class VI to VIII)

  • Must hold a graduation degree and be in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • Or, achieve at least 50% marks in Graduation or Post-Graduation while pursuing a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  • Graduates with a minimum of 45% marks who are pursuing B.Ed, in compliance with NCTE regulations, are also eligible.
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks while pursuing a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) is acceptable.
  • Graduates with 50% marks are eligible if they are pursuing B.Ed. (Special Education).
  • Candidates who have completed an NCTE-recognized B.Ed. program can also apply for the CTET.
  • Post-Graduates with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade who are in a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. program are qualified too.
